Autumn
I love autumn weddings. The weather has turned and so have the leaves on the trees. It is no longer blisteringly hot outside, but cool and breezy. We get to forgo the pastel palette for one so much more vibrant, rich and deep. We get to use more fruits, berries, branches and leaves to add a bit of the season to our arrangements.
There are so much more textures available during this time of the year. Look around and perhaps you will find some inspiration to incorporate into your wedding or event.

Something Blue
We did a blue and white wedding with some slightly retro and contemporary influence. Retro touches included forget-me-knots and lots of polka dots. The contemporary touches were the tall paper flower spheres a-top contemporary vases.

Keeping It Current-Naturally Romantic
Soft loose floral arrangements in watercolor tints and tones are ubiquitous thanks to blogs such as Style Me Pretty and photo sites like Pinterest and Tumblr. These sites provide brides with a quick and simple way to research and plan the look and feel of their wedding. If you are interested in the current trends, then look no further because the internet is likely the most current source. When our brides approach with similar visions, we find the reason is often due to a shared source of inspiration.
These three separate weddings have very similar styling. The first was simple cafe bistro look, the second placed an emphasis on a hand-crafted and nostalgic family affair, while the third was vintage inspired with baby’s breath bundles. It could be said that all three weddings are very much in keeping with the current trend. I enjoy the different directions an idea such as “naturally romantic” can take when a different bride places her personal touches.
The popular trend in weddings at the moment includes a touch of something personal from the bride and groom. Did they love to ride bikes or read together? Include a token, object or photo as a reminder of all the similarities and also differences between the couple.
We love well crafted items or ideas. Our bride Christine had the idea of baby’s breath here, there and every where. We made sure we did our part to make the wedding a success.

Read More »Purple, Fuchsia,and Chartreuse
We usually get a fairly eclectic mix of colors each wedding year, but the one color that seems to endure is purple. My brides love purple. They love any tint, shade, or tone of purple from lavender to fuchsia to violet. The draw of purple for me and perhaps others is its ability to convey a mood. Lavenders can be soft and romantic or sad and wistful. Violets can be exciting and sensual or dark and dangerous. Whatever family of purple it may be, I try to suggest and purchase the flowers that best convey the mood of the event.
This particular wedding was at one of our favorite venues Silver Creek Country Club. Our bride wanted predominantly purples for her floral decoration, but was afraid everything would read too dark. We suggested the addition of some brighter color flowers such as fuchsia phalaenopsis and super green roses. In our experience, the addition of chartreuse or bright green works very well to brighten a dark purple palette.

Sarah and Jon at Kohl Mansion
Sarah and Jon held a blush pink and sapphire themed wedding at the Kohl Mansion for their family and friends. The most thoughtful detail was perhaps the bridal party accessories. Sarah wanted to pay homage to her’s and Jon’s parent’s marriages by using the same flowers they did years ago. Her bridesmaids each carried a different bouquet, while hers was a union of all the flowers used in her mother’s wedding.

Nicole and Luke
We celebrate spring with a bright and cheerful yellow-infused wedding between Nicole and Luke. The adorable couple both lead very interesting lives in Australia where the bride is a professional bicycle racer and the groom a professional golfer. Nicole and Luke were married underneath a canopy of oak trees in an intimate understated ceremony amongst family and friends at her parent’s home in Saratoga, California.
Erin and Andrew
Erin and Andrew happens to be one of the sweetest and most fun couples we have ever worked with. The UCLA graduates both live in Southern California but grew up in the South Bay, so it was only natural to celebrate their wedding in the Bay Area. Erin, the bride, came to us with a theme of cameos, ballet and dance. We took the idea and ran with it. The blush pink wedding held at the Montalvo Center for Arts in Monte Sereno, California featured an incredible amount of details all pointing back to Erin’s original idea of cameos and dance.
Erin chose a teardrop shaped bouquet which included peonies, ranunculus and hydrangeas. The special detail: tulle from her mother’s veil skirted the bouquet reminiscent of a ballerina’s tutu. The Candy Buffet was right out of an old apothecary or penny candy store, a nod to romance and nostalgia. We did not forget Erin’s wish of cameos. Featured behind the bride and groom’s chairs we hung silhouettes of the couple. Not enough details, you say. How about a tree adorned with 1001 hanging cranes? As per Japanese tradition, Erin’s family lovingly folded 1001 cranes to bring happiness and luck to the couple. We wish the couple happiness and prosperity as well.

Gilbert-Martin Wedding at The Ritz
We did a beautiful wedding this past week for a total of 6 people! The Bride contacted us via email and we planned her entire wedding without meeting until the day of her wedding. Heather is the sweetest Southern Belle you could ask for. She knew what she wanted and we were more than happy to carry out her wishes. Her Family was as sweet as could be, full of Southern Hospitality and Charm.
After an intimate ceremony on the Miramontes Terrace and dinner in the Observatory they retired back to the terrace for S’mores!
